  • Dec. 27, 1999
    • Matt Nelson is still the reigning paintball eating champion.  Jeff tried to give him a run for the bad taste, but couldn't over come Matt's multiple balls in the mouth technique.  We raised around $2,000 worth of toys this year for Santa Anonymous, and they were presented at the Christmas party.  The toys display was impressive.  We had some fun.
  • Dec. 26, 1999
    • Very sad news.  Martin Nelson, younger brother of Matt, passed away on Dec. 20.  He had struggled with brian cancer for over a year.  He was 17.  If you ever met Martin, you wouldn't forget him.  He was always very enthusiastic about paintball.  He loved it.  Our thoughts & prayers go out to his family.
  • Dec. 18, 1999
    • Canceled OPEN Day for Dec. 19, 1999.  It's going to be too cold & too much snow to be removed.  Sorry.  See you all at the Christmas Party 7 p.m. supper.

    • I'll be busy Saturday snow blowing the field, so please leave a message.
    • We have alot of toys to present to Santa Anonymous on Sunday.  Thanks to everyone for helping raise so many toys.  Don't forget your toy on Sunday.

    • Looks like the Paintball Monday Report will be turning into a free email newsletter that is produced weekly.  It's going to be called The Paintball Business Buzz.  The guys who make Paintball 2-Xtremes mag are behind this.
    • There is also a new World Paintball Federation Ace Circuit starting next year.  Lively Products & Sam Caldwell are pushing this one.  It will include:2000 WPF / Zap Tour (Atlanta), Zap International Masters, Skyball, Zap International Open, and a few others.  There web site is http://www.wpfonline.com
  • Dec. 4, 1999
    • The Paintball Paradise Prince Albert Christmas Party will be Dec. 19 (Sunday).  Cocktails @ 6p.m., with  supper @ 7p.m.  We will have a Gift Exchange (~$10), some games (including our two volunteers for the Paintball eating contest: Matt & Jeff), maybe a video or two.  All 1999 members and refs are invited out, R.S.V.P. if you can attend to George 764-9444.  I need numbers of attendees for the caterer.  Supper is chicken & wedges, etc.  Same as last year.  Jean Marc mentioned he might bring out some toys.
  • Dec. 1, 1999
    • Jim H. has just reduced his asking price on his Autococker.  Check out the sale page.
    • We had a fun day of paintball on Nov. 28.  Compressed Air systems are the best in the winter.  I'm thinking of ordering some more snow camo from Smartparts.  If you are interested in anything let me know.  My snow camo pattern is from Smartparts.
    • Looks like the Christmas Party will be Dec. 19 (Sunday), but final arrangements are in progress right now.  Stay tuned.

    • I still can't update this page properly.  The index page appears to be frozen.
    • Looks like the Great Western Series will be changing into a National competition called the PanAm Circiut.  This Ciriut will be across North America, with 10 major events.  3 events in each of the following areas: Eastern, Central & Western.  Plus a Championship final, with a National Champion.  Hopefully, Las Vegas will be in March again.
  • Nov. 14, 1999
    • Myself and thousands of other Sympatico Personal Web space users have had trouble for the last week uploading pages.  I still can't update my index page (Main).  But once in a while this page will load up.
    • Lance from the Hell Hounds & Tom Lewis (their web space provider, I believe) have made a couple of new Saskatchewan Paintball Forums.  The first one is a Sask. Paintball Message Board.  The other is a Paintball Gear Auction site.  So if you would like to post messages for all of Saskatchewan to see, please go ahead.  This might get your gear moving quicker as well.  Lance has deleted their old Message Board to use this one.  Keep up the good work Lance & Tom.
    • Pat, Jim (Magboy, but he did use a 'Cocker part of the day) & myself enjoyed the great weather and played a little paintball.  Even Pat went through a lot of paint.  We ran some nice 2 on 1 drills.  From the pictures of the RamRod, this might be the barrel to use in the winter.  There are some great pictures of it in the latest Paintball 2-Xtremes Magazine.
  • Nov. 13, 1999
    • Paintball 2-Xtremes - Nov. 1999
      • If you want to see a great picture of the RamRod Barrel.  This is the issue for you.  It is very cool and very different.  I thought the rods would be covered, but they are exposed.  Reminds me of the terminator or some thing.
      • They review the new JT video "Game On!", which I own.  It's has great photography, well directed and really promotes JT and the Ironmen.  It has player (grandpa & grandson, kids, women, girls, Ironmen, etc.) interviews & a field owner comments.  It's quite good.
      • Millennium Semi: Bob Long's mid-range answer.
      • Victory by Aggression Tactics
      • Raven's New Face for Nuvis-1
      • Etc.
  • Nov. 11, 1999
    • Combat Vision Lens Inserts are now available in tints for the Spectra goggle system.  I should be receiving some in a couple of weeks.
    • Looks like there will be a new company competing in the mass merchant & sporting good chains stores.  It's called Point Zero.  Aldo Perrone (founder of Brass Eagle) sold out to Daisy (now Brass Eagle Company), and doing so, he signed a non competition cause, which has expired.  He is teaming up with ZAP Paintballs, to form this new company.  The new markers will sell for under $100 (semis).  They also plan on selling all categories of paintball equipment too.  Hopefully, these new products will start rolling out before the end of the year.
    • ACI - new product release.
      • Illustrator TP - new version of the F-4.
      • The Griffin - msrp ~$120 USD - semi - looks very similar to the F-4, but cheaper.
  • Nov. 4, 1999
    • I now have Curly Laces For Sale.  The camouflage ones look great.  These are the only laces I can use, so I can tie my own shoes.
  • Nov. 3, 1999
    • Event - OPEN Day -Nov. 14 Sunday at noon.  Please let me know if you will need paint. George
    • The For Sale section has Matt's Nitro Duck HPA tank for sale 47 c.i. 3,000 psi, check it out.  This section is for members to post their used equipment for sale.  If you have some, please email me and I will post it there.
    • Looks like winter is here.  Once I get my truck back from the shop, we will start playing snowball.  Or I might be able to convince somebody to pick-up & drop off my 2 empty SCUBA Tanks plus I need to get some back-up CO2.  Thanks.
    • I'm hoping the Predators can make a trip to Las Vegas in early 2000.  A Great Western Event or NPPL event would be great.  If you would like to go please let me know.  George.
  • Oct. 31, 1999
    • Happy Halloween.  Well we have just received a couple of inches of the wet, heavy snow.  Hopefully this will melt off and we can have a some more great paintball.  If not, winter play will be starting.  If you need a high pressure air systems: there are several on the market.  Call if you need one.
    • I just noticed reading through my old news and updates, that I missed a sponsor on my list for the SHARE Tournament.  I'm real sorry Steve. Wolverine Paintball Products was a terrific sponsor.  Team Extreme Rage (sponsored by Wolverine Paintball Products) are a great bunch of guys and they raised lots of money & donated prizes as well.  I'm glad you guys had a good time, and I loved it that you guys played paintball in the moonlight.  Too bad for tinted lenses.
  • Oct. 29, 1999
    • Congratulations to Trent & Rona Armitage on their addition to the family of a baby boy.  Easton Armitage weighed in at 7 lbs. 6 ozs.
  • Oct. 27, 1999
    • The Spyder Cup will be May 27-28, 2000.  The Grand Prize is 5 Ford Mustangs.  Of course only Amateur teams shooting Spyder series markers can play.  It's in Pittsburgh at Three Rivers Paintball.  Team Effort Events are the host, the same people who put on the Zap Amateur Open.  What a great prize!!  Great promotion, I can't think of a better way to promote Spyders.
    • The Hell Hounds have a new url http://www.hellhounds.saskhost.com/
    • Matt has suggested the addition of and open forum (bulletin board) where "I could call Mike a blind, blundering moose incapable of finding a single T-shirt at the night game."  What do you guys think?  E-mail me : George
  • Oct. 25, 1999
    • What a great night for the Last Blast Night Game.  Very little wind, temp. was nice and a Full Moon.  30 players or so.  We got started around 8 pm, and ended the last match 3am.  We played 4x 1 hour matches.  The Blue team won the night with 4 missions completed, even though the Red team scored double the elimination's of the Blue Team.  It actually was quite bright out.
    • Magboy started as the Captain of the Blue Team, but made an early departure.  Martin S. replaced him, but the team really shined when Matt N. took over.  The Red Team had Mike W. at the helm most of the night, and only the last round had Jay C. leading the Red.
    • The Oreo cookies for sale at $100 each were really popular.  Even Mike was giving his players money to purchase them.
    • Night games are always fun.  Mike stole $1,000 right from under Jim's nose.  Jim then misplaces Mike Automag for a while.  Jeff collected almost $3,000 worth of Oreos, too bad that the Blue team could have had another clue with that...such is paintball.  Ask Martin S. about "filling his drawers" from the special effects.  The fog machine calved, but I think players had a good time anyway.
    • Thanks to my refs:  Wayne, Dave, Jay & Dave.  Support staff: Kathie.  And Pat for helping get the field ready.
  • Oct. 22, 1999
    • Tonight all the lights have been checked, by Pat & myself.  The Full Moon makes the field very bright.  Could make the game quite interesting.  The Fog Machine seems to work OK, hopefully the wind will be down.  It doesn't work continuously, but in spurts.  Looks like a good turn-out for the Night Game.

    • Looks like Nitro Duck has come up with a new High Pressure Air Tank called the LT.  It's a 90 c.i. tank that is just a little longer than a 68, and only 1/2" wider.  That means it's 2" shorter than a 110.  Looks very good.
    • Thanks to Jim (Magboy) and Pat.  We cleaned up the big field and have created some new dead fall bunkers.  Check out Gamma & Epsilon.  We now have lots of wood for the Winter games.  We'll be playing all winter again for those diehards.  With these new 90 c.i. HPA tanks, there might be some older and smaller or larger tanks up for sale. ACI & Airgun Designs both have new HPA systems on the market.
    • Once the crop is off, I will be needing some help to move some old cars and trucks (4-5), spools, etc. onto the Water Field.  So if you can help let me know.  I might want to build a foot bridge across the water as well.  Thanks.
  • Oct. 10, 1999
    • Crossfire has a new barrel called the "Ramrod".  This barrel has straight rails down the barrel, so the ball has little contact with the barrel itself.  The big benefit is that the barrel is self cleaning.  The grooves next to the rails allows the paint to enter, and shoot itself clean, with in 1-3 shots.  The Ramrod performs much better under rapid fire conditions, and has very consistent groupings.  you can contact Crossfire in Kalamazoo MI 616-344-7600.
    • Looks like there could be up to 5 different air assisted feeders on the market.  2 within a month or so.  This could increase the Rate of Fire (R.O.F.) considerably (2-3 times the R.O.F.).  This has goggles manufacturers concerned.
    • Tippmann is offering a Certified Service Technician course.  This is a great idea.  It also requires the purchase of $500 worth of parts, to properly repair guns.

      • I would like to thank all the sponsors, and everybody who made the event a success.  My girlfriend Kathie worked for 3 days towards the event (mowing grass, fix-up, support staff and registration), Thanks Kathie.  The refs included the Wolfpack, Pat B. as Ultimate Judge, Martin and Dave on the Chrono.  Thanks.
      • Thanks to all the guys for coming out and helping: building bleachers, extending the rain shelter, clearing paths through the bush, putting up netting, the tent (up and down), flipping burgers, clean-up and just helping out.  I hope I remember everyone: Pat, Bob, Mike, Wayne, Trevor, Matt, Jeff, Trent, Brad, Jim (Magboy), Martin, Dave, Jay and Kathie.  Many of you helped so many times.  Thanks.
      • A special thank-you to the teams that traveled so far to attend this event.  It requires alot of planning to get a team to an event that far.
      • The field played better than most teams thought it would.  Also it didn't require vast amounts of paint to win.  The spectator had a great view of the event.  The games were very exciting to watch.  Roars from the crowd were very common.
      • Having the sound system from Spectrum Sound really helped to keep the event rolling along.  Bryon announced which games were playing, on deck and the next two games.  This was greatly appreciated.
      • The final count on the money raised for S.H.A.R.E. will be in a couple of days.  Thanks to all the teams who raised money for S.H.A.R.E.
      • I would like to extend a special thank you to our sponsors.

      • You might want to check out something radical from Tippmann.  It's called the Flatline, and will be marketed starting in Sept. 1999. Warpig has a good story on it, as it was just unveiled at the ZAP Amateur Open in Pittsburgh.  It creates a backspin on a paintball with a curved barrel (banana shaped upwards).  It can extend the range of a shot by an extra 80 feet over conventional barrels.  The paintballs must be very round and the barrel must be clean for it to work.  This system should work on any paintball marker, but Tippmann has a pat pending on it.

      • Well, we introduced hundreds of kids to paintball this week at the P.A. EX.  I sure like my tent, and it did rain, but we were dry.
      • Talked to a few 'Outlaw' players.  Many didn't know about commercial sites, tournaments, etc., but they didn't look hard either (phone book is way to easy to find paintball).  Many play 1 on 1, because that's all the equipment they have (not counting just shooting the little brother).  Many are isolated by a 2-3 hour drive or more.  Lots of weird places selling equipment out of a catalog.  Most have no idea about filling CA tanks and sell Stingrays on 12 grams (lots of 12 grams).  It was an interesting week.
      • Wyett, Matt, Dave & myself have a weird sense of humor towards the little rug rats running around the EX.  I have no idea why kids would want to eat paintballs, but when they want to eat them the second time...  It's just weird and funny.  Maybe they think its going to taste better the second time.
      • The new Paintball 2Xtremes is out (August 1999).  Articles include:
        • The new Raven Vision system (new goggle manufacturer)
        • Allen Paintball Products manufacturer
        • Paintball Gambits - Shock Tactics
        • The Top 10 games We Play - I like Alien, which is similar to Hunter / Rabbit.
        • plus more
      • Check out a new Predator Profile - Matt Nelson  Matt has really developed as a player over the last year.  He has that Predator go hard and play hard attitude.  Matt really like the team drills we have been developing.

      • You will have a hard time getting a hold of me this week, unless you are at the P.A. Exhibition.  (The 116th Summer Fair).  I have a shooting booth there this week (August 2-7, 1999, from noon until 11pm daily).  So drop on by, and see if you can win a prize.  If you are really good, you will get your name entered in a draw for a Paintball Paradise T-shirt.
      • The next night game will be a full scenario game on the Big Field, and will be a Friday night in late August.  I got to play Friday in the last Night game.  The small field was a blast, and really well lit.  I think we will move a couple of lights for next time (too bright on the field side).  Maybe I'll try to get the Bale Field lit as well.

      • Night Game is scheduled for July 30, play starting at 8 pm.  The games will be Capture the Flag and Center Flag, with 15 minute and 20 minute time limits.  Each team will have a different coloured glow stick on their backs (Red & Blue), refs being Green.  This will be the first real test of the lights on the small field.  Tuesday night we will be testing the lights on both the small and big fields around 7 pm- 9pm.
      • The Predators came in 4th at the Low Tech tourney at Asquith on July 25.  Jim R., Mike W., Matt N., Byron M., Dave H. & Tyriel played for the Predators.  A new team really came to life near the end and won it all, they were from Saskatoon.  The Generals did very well coming in 2nd.  Way to go guys.

      • Over the weekend, the Prince Albert Predators Paintball Team and Paintball Paradise hosted the 9th Annual Santa Anonymous Benefit Tournament.  This years even raised over $1,500 worth of toys again.  To date the tournament has raised ~$10,000 worth of toys.
      • The weather was cool and cloudy, which is great paintball weather, especially after last years’ downpour all day.  It was a terrific event, with a lot of work put in by the Predators to make this a successful event.  Maureen Wadham (Prince Albert) won the Tippmann Model 98 paint marker, donated by Tippmann Pneumatics.
      • The TOP GUN contest winners were: 1st Martin Sterling (P.A. Predators), 2nd Bob Faul (P.A. Predators) and 3rd Trevor Yusier (Suicide Squirrels).
      • The results of the tournament (which is the 2nd event on the Saskatchewan Championship Circuit) were:
        • 1st Hell Hounds (Regina),
        • 2nd Naughty Spawn (Saskatoon)
        • 3rd 4 Neat Guys (Saskatoon)
        • 4th Rebels (Prince Albert)

      • The Bale Field is looking very good.  Just need to add some small square bales for added height on top of some round bales.

      • The Main Field is extremely lush.  Some areas remind me of a jungle.  The swamp has no water, but some mud does remain.  The new tire bunker on the north ridge is a favorite spot of the renters.
  • June 28, 1999
    • 3 more early registrations: 4 Neat Guys (Saskatoon), The Generals (Prince Albert) & Screaming Eagles (Prince Albert).
    • Looks like the Jackals will not be able to attend.  Thanks for trying guys.
  • June 25, 1999
    • The first two teams confirmed today (PAID), for the Santa AnonymousRBTT (Saskatoon) and Snipe Elite (Saskatoon).  Other teams include (but not paid early registration): 4 Neat Guys (Saskatoon), The Generals (P.A.), Hell Hounds (Regina), Huns - Naughty Spawn (Saskatoon), JR. Predators (P.A.), Wolfpack (Saskatoon) and a few other local teams (Names to be made up yet).  The Jackals (Regina) have expressed interest too.  Looks like we could hit 16 teams, but for sure 11.
    • The Top Gun course will be 10 shots at 10 Coke bottles.  This years distance will be shortened, as to you run straight back from just past bin #7 to Bin #1 (spectators will be able to watch the entire course from one vantage point).  Participants will kick over a pillion to start and one at the end to stop the timer.  20 sec. penalty for each miss.  Thanks to Pat for getting this great course in shape.  In 1999 Pat wants to get 1st Place, not second like 1998.
    • July 17, 1999 is being designated "International Paintball Safety Day".  This will hopefully bring players out to safe commercial sites.  The first big push for awareness of safe, responsible paintball, that is being promoted by the Paintball Safety Council.
  • June 20, 1999
    • The Bale Field is now ready to play on.  It's a diamond shape, with 22 round bales.  The size is 165' long by 150' wide.  Thanks to Martin S., Pat B. and Jim H. for all their hard work.
    • Pat has been working hard on the Top Gun Course for the Santa Anonymous Tournament on July 4.  Don't forget to get your tickets on the Model 98 Tippmann Pneumatics donated.
    • I received more information on the Paintball Safety Council.  Hopefully, everything will be up and running in July or August.
    • The P.A. Predators are holding a Paintball Shooting Booth at Founder's Day on the North Saskatchewan River bank.  Sometimes the crowd can reach over 15,000 people.  This should be a great day to highlight Paintball.
  • June 15, 1999
    • The Moosehorn Center Flag 4-man was held on the weekend.  The 4 Neat Guys (Saskatoon - James Jackson) won 1st place.  The P.A. Predators took 2nd place (George Lewko, Jim Russell, Mike Wyatt and David Hildebrandt).  We did have some bad luck, ask Jim R. about face planting himself on a tire, etc.  The field was in the Open area only, which I thought was better.  The fields played very fair, but seemed to be still a bit too long.  Dave has really developed well, making a nice move to eliminate the Generals.  Jean-Marc's Generals had a good time as well.  The tent worked great.
  • June 7, 1999
    • There is a new information page on the web from the makers of Paintball 2xtremes magazine.  www.paintball2xtremes.com
    • Two well renown ophthalmologists [eye doctors] (Dr. Paul Vinger and Dr. Jack Jeffers) have made a stand against fully automatic paintball guns.  These two doctors are very involved in eye protection in all sports.  They believe that with automatics two eyes could be damaged instead of one eye.  They did note when the proper goggles worn NO injuries have been reported.  However, many players have removed their goggles and have been injured.  These doctors have no problem with semi-automatics (one shot per tigger pull), even with high end players that can shoot over 10 ball per second, because these players are trained.  A newbie with a fully automatic can serious injure someone, even with proper goggles.  You can see the full article at the Paintball 2xtremes site.
    • The small field has even better lighting now with most lights perched up in trees or on poles to the side of the field.  It's fabulous.  Thanks to Pat & Stacey.  The main field has had a few modifications as well.  The bale field needs a little work and it will be ready for action.
  • June 3, 1999
    • New page: For Sale area, for members to sell items.  These are the same items that are found on the For Sale Wall in the HQ.
    • The lights are now up on the Small Field.  Thanks to Pat & Jim H.
  • June 1, 1999
    • The 114 HPA tanks are in.  They will be great, giving more shots per psi than the smaller ones.
    • The round bale Speedball course has arrived.  We'll plant some grass and trees.  It's location is near the water field.  The course will be in a diamond shape.  The teams start from the points, with the field getting wide near the center.  There are 29 round bales.
  • May 29, 1999
    • Several new bunkers were added to the main field.  A tire bunker now protects the north ridge.  The old water tank stand behind Beta has been stood up, along with a couple of wooden bunkers to it's south.  Plus one large black L shaped bunker was added to the south of the granary.
    • The P.A. Predators Tent has arrived.  It's an EZup, 10' x 10' that goes up in less than a minute.  One wall is solid camouflage and the other 2 are panoramic (tops are clear plastic).  It's great!
  • May 24, 1999
    • If you missed it, you missed it.  50 players on Sunday.  Beautiful sunny and just a little wind.  It was a wild time.
    • Looks like Aldo Perrone (Ontario), will be manufacturing mass market markers and accessories.  (Aldo sold out to Brass Eagle, and had a non compete agreement which just expired).  He has a nearly indestructible, plastic, semi-automatic marker which will retail for below $75 US.  his new company is called Point Zero.
    • ZAP INTERNATIONAL AMATEUR OPEN SHARES RULES OF CONDUCT.  (Press Release)  These are appropriate for any team, any player and any event.
      • Paintball guns must be in a case, duffel bag or similar covering ant time they may be viewed by the public.  This means covering guns in hotels, in the airport, on the streets, in parking lots, in cars, etc.  Under no circumstances should any hotel guest ever see a paintball gun in the hotel.
      • Paintball guns are not to be discharged anywhere except at the chronograph, on the game fields or similar games areas.  They are not to be discharged (dry or loaded) in any area where goggles are not required.  They are not to be discharged, even dry, at the hotels!
      • Barrels must be blocked with plugs when not in use or in any area where goggles are not required.  Squeegies are not barrel plugs.
      • Shooting or otherwise marking public or private property, unprotected players or animals with paintballs, including structures at the tournament site such as porta-johns, signs, buildings, etc. is prohibited.  Respect this community that so graciously invites us back each year!
      • Arguing, fighting or similar non sportsmanlike behavior will not be tolerated. Remember, it is not what you say, it is how you say it!  You can disagree without being disagreeable.
      • Extreme courtesy should be exhibited at all campgrounds and hotels.  Care should be also be given not to contaminate rugs and furniture with paint from the playing field or mud from boots.  do not ruin good hotel towels wiping paint or mud from equipment.  Ask at the front desk for old towels and they will be pleased to give you some.  The same care you would give at your mother's home should be extended to the hotels in this community.
    • Airstar introduced a new SuperNova.  The Nova line of marker work on extremely low pressure CO2.  The markers will hardly freeze up.  The one I saw in Pittsburgh, we froze the tank and it was covered in ice, and it still worked.

    • The P.A. Predators won the Saskatchewan Speedball Championships in Asquith today.  It was cold and windy, but it never rained.  With all 5 of us on HPA (high pressure air) our markers performed extremely well.  The poor weather sure made us glad that HPA was available.  We had a spare player for every game, which we never needed.  That worked very good.  Magboy was sure moving up the center and won quite a few games, but ask him about face planting in that first bunker, alittle short as well.  Congratulations to: Jim R., Jim H., Wayne G., Mike W. & George L.

    • The improved Small Field plays extremely well.  It plays quite fast and lose.
    • Brass Eagle announced record profits in this first quarter of this year.  Net sales of $19,004,00 in 1999, compared to $15,658,00 in 1998's first quarter.  Net income was $2,230,000 in 1999, compared to $1,285,000 in 1998.  The purchase of C.M. Support (Viewloader) in Jan. 1999 helped push their numbers up.
    • 'Bioprogress', from England,  X-Gel Film System is a new animal free soft capsule technology.  This new system uses no gelatin (all current paintballs use gelatin for a shell), which is a protein derived from animal renderings.  There seems to be a scare in Britain that Mad Cow disease could be transmitted though gelatin (which is very unlikely, but that seems to be where this product is developed from).  This product would cost effectively produce animal free soft capsules.  Because of its unique properties and consumers concerns, they hope that their patented process will bring the company into the global market.  Since only their company could produce this product.
  • May 5, 1999
    • Reconstructed the Small Field.  Pat, Jim and myself have improved, heightened and added more wood bunkers to the field.  Almost all the old bunkers have been moved and rebuilt higher.  This should make the field faster and according to Pat, "...easier on the old guys."
    • The Water Field is next on the list to improve.  We're going to add more spools, an old swather, some barrels and most likely improve a few areas with sand bags.
  • May 4, 1999
    • Looks like Canadian Tire will be selling Brass Eagle Paintball gear, just like Wal-mart.  Be very careful of any paintballs from Brass Eagle.  Check the cases from broken balls, or leakers.  If you see any paint leaking or broken, I would not purchase it.
    • Jean Marc from The Generals Quarters has his web site started.  Check it out for monthly specials.

    • Some more sponsors for the SHARE Tournament: WDP (Camouflage or uniforms), Air America, & CMI International.
    • Paintball Paradise Prince Albert Inc. will be holding Player Safety & Strategy Courses, in about a month or so.  The classes are from the Paintball Safety Council Inc.  Players that pass the course (cost ~$15), will receive a book, certificate, Player Pak & a 3 month subscription to Paintball 2-Xtremes Magazine.  The book is 160+ pages called "Paintball: The Complete Player's Guide to Playing Safer and Better".
  • April 24, 1999
    • World News:
      • Another encapsulator has begun production, SOFT GEL CAPS WEST.    The paintballs will be called the Great American Paintballs.  This brings the total number of paintball manufacturers to 12, in the US and Canadian markets.
      • Both the Canadian Paintball League (American Paintball League) and Xtreme Sports Group (Paintball 2-Xtremes Magazine) will be offering Player Safety Classes and a nation wide safety program.  This might be a joint offering or separate programs.
      • It looks like Brass Eagle might be loosing their dominate position at Wal-mart.  Wal-mart is considering other paintball products to carry as well.
      • Looks like paintball is in for another strong season.  There are dramatic increase in sales of almost every category of paintball products.  Other sporting good lines are having sales drops.  Archery and skateboard stores are now starting to sell paintball products to overcome their sales losses.
      • There could be some product shortages this year again.  Plus there are estimates that have over 600 new paintball products introduced this year.  With less than 100 surviving.  So be careful of new products out there.
      • Diablo paintballs are really marketing their product.

    • It looks like Accucaps (the makers of ZAP Paintballs), are set to open a huge Paintball Factory in Canada.  The facility is about 11,000 square feet, and would be dedicated to paintballs.  A plant this size could produce billions of paintball each year.
    • There seems to be a bit of a Paintball media war going on.  It would appear that there are too many Paintball publications for the advertising revenue available.  The fight can be seen in the news group rec.sport.paintball.  There are so many postings, that I have stopped checking out the war.  I've met or talked to many of the parties involved.  Some are quite open, and others are very closed about their involvement.  We'll see who gets the readership and manufacturers advertising.
  • April 11, 1999
    • The seasons off to a very busy start (bookings are going well).  I now have bookings into June.  Phone early to book your time.  Check the events page for the current calendar.
    • Looks like we'll be having a booth or display at Founders Day.  10,000-15,000 people will be on the river bank that day.  Should be excellent publicity.
    • Three more confirmed sponsors for the SHARE Tournament. Worr Games Products (3x1999 Autocockers), Paintball Mania (3x47cu in AL 3,000 HPA Tanks?) and Leads Metal Products (A.K.A. Performance- Specialty Accessories).

    • The Sask. Speedball at Asquith has been moved to May 16.  It will have 100% pay back of registration fees to the First Place team.
    • I received an email from Lance (Hound of the Hell Hounds or Iceman [ask him about his nick names sometime]) regarding the WHY2K Scenario Game in Regina (Paintball Paradise).  It looks quite good and is set for Aug. 15, 1999.

    • The First booking of the spring was out today.  A ringette wind-up party.  The girls really improved, and gave it to the Dads'.  Weird weather: sunny, snow, black clouds, snow, cold, warm, sunny.
    • ZAP is now confirmed as sponsors to the SHARE Tourney.  Steve Moore (ZAP Paintballs) plans to attend the event.  Steve's a great guy, and just love paintball.  He travels the world promoting paintball.  He seems quite impressed with Trent and his SHARE Tourney.  I interviewed Steve a couple of years ago, and his views on the sport have been confirmed since that time.  Steve even remembered me at the 1998 ZAP Amateur Open in Pittsburgh (which Jim R. and I attended).

    • Combat Vision has donated 20 No-fog Insert coupons redeemable at the Santa Anonymous tourney.  I now have the coupons from last years tourney.  Just email me if you won Inserts in 1998, and I'll redeem the coupons for you.
  • March 22, 1999
    • What a great day of playing paintball. It must have been +12oC out.  We had 7 players.  I shot Chevy multiple times.  It was fun!  Most of the paths are clear, and the snow is less than a foot deep in most places.
    • Santa Anonymous Top Gun Contest.  I'm thinking of shorting the course to a straight run.  There will still be only one shot per target (10 total), but I think we'll add some obstacles.  These obstacles could be a tire field, stair case,  raised ramp, weaving though cones, etc.  If anybody has suggestions please let me know.
    • Sounds like Paintball Mania has developed a Tuff Skin Coating for New Fibre Wrapped High Pressure Air Systems, just after we ordered our tanks.  They are discontinuing the 114's and will produce only these fibre wraps in 68's and 110's.  The coating adds only 1 oz in weights.

    • It's looking like 3 Automag RT's might be the prize for the team that raises the most money for SHARE.  but not for sure yet.
    • Tippmann is introducing the "Pro/Carbine", which features a Pro-Lite forearm, build on the body of a Carbine 45 frame.  They are keeping the more consistent and efficient CVX Valve (which can use both CO2 and compressed air).
    • There also seems to be a movement to having trigger guards required on all markers, by 2000.
    • The ZAP series and the NPPL might be getting their rules to be more consistent against each other.
  • March 14, 1999
    • The SHARE Tournament will be August 28, 1999 (Saturday).  We already have 3 Spyders to give away.  Trent will be in charge of Sponsorship, George will run the tournament.  Location TBA.
    • What a beautiful day to play paintball.  +5oC out and my Mag worked well on CO2.  You guys missed a great day, must have played 10 games.  Magboy shot Snowcap in the cap on the last game.  Mike blew his gun apart, but it's a Tippmann and had it working in 2 minutes.  How's your neck Mike? or the snow banks?
  • March 13, 1999
    • Our order of Nitrogen tanks will be delayed until next week.  Somehow they went to Dartmount, Nova Scotia.  Before that they were lost in the wonderful world of UPS.
    • Sounds like good weather for the game on Sunday.
    • This weekend will have some serious meetings on the Santa Anonymous and SHARE Tourneys.  Things are shaping up very good.
    • I'm thinking about raffling off the Tippmann Model 98 (donated by Tippmann Pneumatics) w/ 9 oz. tank (retail value ~$400.00).  The team or person selling the most tickets would win a case of ZAP Paintballs.  This could raise another $1,000 to purchase toys with, at the Santa Anonymous Tourney.  What do you think?
    • Looks like the entire Saskatchewan Championship Circuit for 1999 will be raising funds for charity.  July Santa Anonymous, July Children's Crisis Center, June - TBA, and August SHARE.
  • March 11, 1999
    • Some new sponsors for Santa Anonymous Tourney. Tippmann Pneumatics (Model 98 w/ 9 oz tank) and 20 Combat Vision Lens inserts.  The 16 inserts from last year are on their way now.
    • The SHARE Tourney has Kingman International as sponsors (3 Spyders).
    • Universal Surrender Rule.  When you are eliminated, you put in your modified barrel plug and wave it the air.  when leaving the field you keep your paintgun raised high.  The modified barrel plug has 2 x 30 cm long orange flags (2-3 cm wide) attached to it.  The flags could be flagging tape, but it's better to use webbing or binding material.  I just purchased 50 m of orange webbing.  It should reduce being hit while walking (eliminated) off the field.  We'll try it this weekend.
    • JT is now selling paintballs (J-Balls).
    • Dennis Tippmann, Sr. is having a contest to name a new paintball gattling gun.  It's mounted on a gokart which travels 45 mph.  The gun shoots 3,000 rounds per minute (that's 50 balls per second).  It's hopper holds 6,000 paintballs.
