    • Happy Thanksgiving!!
    • The 4-man Speedball Tournament at Saskatoon Paintball Games (Oct. 7, 2001) was quite fun on a small field.
      • Our players really liked the field; however, their first impression was "It's small" but it played much larger.  The field was well balanced & played similar to a Sup'Air field.
      • The refs were on top of everything.  Great job guys.
      • Our team had some trouble with the Thanksgiving Day dinner, most members dinner being moved from Monday to Sunday, or having multiple family dinners over 2 days.  Thanks to Philip & Nick Northey from the Generals for playing with us.  Kyle Borysuik & Joe Glasser rounded out our team.  Thanks to Grant for lending his markers to Nick, as he had trouble all day with markers.
      • The results were:

  • Sept. 28, 2001
  • Sept. 24, 2001
    • The new X-Boards for 12 volt View Loader Revolutions are ordered.  They will take out the pause on the Sunlight proof boards when they first engage.  I expect them in less than 2 weeks (Retail price should be under $30 Canadian). Warpig has an interesting article on this new X-Board.  The old boards have been taken out of production, so all the new loaders should have the X-Board.
    • You can turn your old Black 12 volt Revolution into a colored (2 halves & a lid) (your choice of: clear, red, green or blue) with the new X-Board for around $50.  The colored halves make it quite easy to tell how much paint you have left in your loader.
    • Our new Genesis Air Booster Pump is ordered.  We will be able to fill HPA up to 4,500 p.s.i.  Special Thanks to all the Predators who helped to make this possible.

    • There was some great paintball played in Asquith on Sunday May 13, 2001.  The Saskatchewan Speedball Championships was quite exciting to watch, and a blast to play in.  The caliber of play was great.  The winner wasn't decided until the last game.  A new team called the Bandits from Brock took first place, in a close playoff round.  The top 3 teams (in the playoffs) had 2 wins and 1 loss.  Points scored during the wins determined the placing.  It was very tight.  The top 4 were:
      1. The Bandits (Brock)
      2. P.A. Predators - Gold (Prince Albert)
      3. Phantom Factory Team (Regina)
      4. Wicked (Saskatoon)

    • Bill C-15 doesn't ban paintball.  There have been some emails around lately that might seem like it.  I talked with Heather Watson, Special Assistant, Office of the Honourable Anne McLellan.  The Bill changes the exemptions to either:
      • under 500 f.p.s. or
      • under 5.7 joules
    • If either requirements are met, the marker is exempt.  The "OR" part seemed to be the thing missed.  She is having the Canadian Firearms Centre send me an interpretation to this affect.
  • Apr. 1, 2001
    • There were 60+ players out for the Open Day.  The weather was nice at +5oC.  Sounds like there will be very good turnouts for the next few Open Days.

    • NPS CHROME-MOLY CYLINDERS ARE EXEMPT FROM HYDROSTATIC RETESTING
      • There has long been a "2x2 rule" regarding paintball propellant gas cylinders.  "Bottles" such as the aluminum 7 ounce (covered by the DOT "3E" Specification) are exempt from the normal periodic hydrostatic retesting requirement, because they do not exceed two inches in diameter and are less then two feet in length.  There is a new exemption:
      • Certain steel cylinders marked with the specification "DOT E 10776 1800" are required by DOT to be made in accordance with DOT Specification 3E.  This is confusing, because although "3E" cylinders must not exceed 2 inches in diameter, these other cylinders (DOT E 10776) are restricted only by a maximum water volume of 90 cubic inches.  Bottom line:  NPS Chrome-Moly cylinders marked with "DOT E 1776" do not have to be hydrostatically retested, PERIOD.
      • Here is a quick reference guide of DOT (U.S. Dept. of Transportation) standards.  This applies to CO2 & HPA vessels.

      •

          Stamp Material Retesting
          3AA Steel 5 years
          3AL Aluminum 5 years
E11 Composite Wrap 3 years, 4 retests max.
          3E or E77 Aluminum Exempt
3A Carbon Steel DO NOT FILL - highly corrosive
          E 10776 1800 Chrome-Moly Exempt
        • Always check with the manufacture, if you are unsure of the standards.  Most TC (Transport Canada) & DOT regulations are similar or the same.  If you travel to the US with your vessels, the DOT standard applies.
  • Mar. 3, 2001
    • Open Day Mar. 4 (Sunday) @ 1 p.m.  Please let me know, if you need to rent HPA tanks.  Thanks.

    • I'll need to take some photos on Sunday, for a couple of Magazine articles I'm writing.  Snowball or CanadaBall, and one on Night Games.  I've got lots of film, and maybe one of you might get to be in a cover shot.  Everybody dress up or wash your hair, or just be presentable.

    • I've finally added Burton Roy to the Predator roster.

    • I now have 12 confirmed for the Player Safety Class on Feb. 24, 2001.  I will be holding another Class before May, for those players that cannot attend this class.  The first 20 attendees will get their Video and CD, if there are more than 20 the others will have to wait for their video & CD (2 weeks).  The quicker you register, you will get your stuff that day.
    • OPEN DAY Feb. 25, 2001 Sunday @ 1 p.m.  We'll put to test the knowledge gained at the Player Safety Class.
    • Bad-Ass is a new team from North Battleford.  Bryce Volk is it's Captain.
  • Feb. 15, 2001
  • Feb. 14, 2001

      • Feb. 24, 2001 (Saturday) at 1 p.m.
      • At the Optimist Centre under the P.A. Exhibition Grandstand.
      • $25 for Members, and $35 for non-members.
      • Participants (and parents) will be required to sign a Master Waiver Form.  This goes on record in Johnson City TN, and will allow players to not have to sign a waiver at all CPL & APL insured playing sites.  Paintball Paradise Prince Albert Inc. is CPL insured.  They will just need to show their C-Card.
      • The exam is 20 question multiple choice.
      • Pre-registration is required.  Please call 764-9444 or 1-888-764-9444. Instructor is George Lewko
      • Benefits include:
        • C-Card.
        • Free Paintball 101 video
        • Free Raven CD
        • Free email account
        • Free listing on the Paintball.org website
        • Nonmembers will receive a Free Day Pass to Paintball Paradise Prince Albert Inc.
        • You will not have to sit through the regular safety briefing.
        • You can participate in a paintball strategy class, and LEARN TO BE A BETTER PLAYER! The purpose of this class is to teach you how to be a better, safer player, and to HAVE FUN!
  • Feb. 7, 2001
    • I'm hoping to run a Player Safety Course in Feb. on a Saturday.  The facility will hopefully be confirmed tomorrow.  The instructor will be George Lewko C3 graduate of the PTI.  The cost will be $25 for members, and $35 for non-members.  Players passing the exam will receive a C-Card, Paintball 101 video, Raven CD, free email account and will have a good understanding of paintball safety and tactics.  The course will be 3 hours long, and most likely start at 1 p.m.  Once a C-Card holder has filled out a Master waiver form (and his parents for those under 19), they will not have to fill out another waiver at any CPL or APL insured playing site.  They will just have to show their C-Card and number.
  • Feb. 4, 2001
    • What a great Open Day! +5oC and 9 players.  I think everybody will like adding the granaries as a new field this year.  I'm hoping to find some Hyperball Components to add to it.
    • Would players be willing to pay $10 a day for HPA fills to 3,000 or 4,500 psi?  I'm think of getting a booster, but they are very pricey.  ($1,800 US).  Each fill would be a fill, not like the Scuba tanks, which you get "shorted" on.  Please let me know.  George
    • I've ordered a Automag Hyper frame from Centerflag Products.  I saw one at Condor Paintball in Elizebethtown KY.
    • Dennis Condor is selling a ton of Model 98 RT's, Dennis calls them, "Angel killers".  As they retail for $240 US, and he sold 500 at Christmas.  They are adjustable from 8-14 ball per second.  The RT trigger is sweeter than the Automag RT. They can be retrofit into existing Model 98's, as it is a Tippmann modification.  The new Model 98 Custom are ready to have the RT installed without much work.
    • The Sask. Paintball Message Board (SaskHost) was hacked last week.  So no updates until they get everything straighten out.
    • If thinking of running a Player Safety Course on Feb. 25 Sunday or Feb. 24 Saturday.  The cost would be $35 for non-members & $25 for members.  Players will receive a Paintball 101 video, Raven CD, free email account at paintball.net & their own C-card.  The C-card will allow players at CPL & APL fields to not have to sign a waiver each time, because at the class they signed a master waiver (which will be kept in Johncity TN).  Also player don't need to attend the basic player orientation each time out.  They still need to know about particular games and dangers on each field though.  The Safety course is 3 hours long, with a 20 multiple choice exam at the end.  Which day is better for everyone?  George
  • Jan. 31, 2001
    • Matt Nelson (Predator) played with the 4 Neat Guys in Calgary too.  Both Matt & Jeff's off-field antics were more remarkable than their on-field performance.  Both seemed to have been left in the hallways in uncomfortable positions.  Hopefully, Calgary will recover.  I'm glad you guys had fun and learned a thing or two.
    • OPEN Day on Saturday Feb. 3 @ 1 p.m.  Please let me know if you need to rent HPA tanks, as I only have a few left.  George
  • Jan. 27, 2001
    • Best of Luck to The Generals Paintball Team, who will be attending their first time at the Canadian National Speedball Championships in Calgary over this weekend.  A Predator will be lending a hand on the team, Jeff Bergen.  Have fun guys and enjoy yourselves:  Chevy, The Northys' (Pat, Philip, Nick) & Kevin Fowler.

      • My Factory Certificates include:
        •     Brass Eagle: Rainmaker, VL Revolution, Stingray 2, Raptor, Tigershark and all their low end pump markers. I'm a Service Center for these markers as well.
        •       Indian Creek Design: Bushmaster 2000, Desert Fox, and AlleyCat.
        •       Tippmann: Model 98 & Carbine
        •       Worr Games Products: Autococker & Snipers
        •       Kingmann: most Spyders
        •       ProTeam Products: Micromag, MicroCocker, FX Cocker, & Model 98 fx
        •       PTI Certification on the Automag, and Automag RT.

I will be getting some papers on the Shocker & Impulse later on.

      • I really understand the theory and design on most markers on the market and should be able to fix most problems.  The course was terrific.  Hopefully, I can remember everything.
    • I'm the first Canadian to take all the Certifications.  Mike Rabig, from Sports Xtreme (Mobile AB), was the first American to take all the Certifications at once.
    • Kathie has her C1-C2-C3 certifications too.
    • 2783 km to Hawesville KY and 3466 km to Johnson City TN.  Last year, Las Vegas was 2645 km.

    • The Paintball Paradise Prince Albert Paintball message board is up and running.  Please feel free to post to it.  I may not be able to update this page for the next couple of weeks, so I might end up posting on the PPPA Message board.  In that time, I will have taken my Paintball Training Institute (PTI) C1-C4A certification.  The certification includes:
      • C1 - Basic Certified Air Technician
      • C2 - Advanced Air Technician
      • C3 - Player Safety Class Instructor
      • C4 - Basic Certified Referee
      • C4A - Advanced Referee Class
    • Hopefully, I will get to play in KY & TN.

    • I just received my package from Redz Comfort.  The five paintball eating contestants (Matt, Blaine, Jeff, Burton & Trevor) are all getting a Redz Neck Protector.  Extra Neck protectors are for sale @ $12 each.  They are quite comfortable, without being too tight.
    • My new Redz 4+1 pack is great.  It's extremely comfortable, plus fits 100 or 140 round tubes.  That wide belt keeps the pack from moving.  I also got some black 100 round tubes in, for anybody who is interested.
  • Jan. 1, 2001
    • Happy New Year everybody!
    • The Open Day was great with 12 players on HPA.  Even though the temperature was quite cool, it was fun.  With the -18oC the paint had some problems, with many barrel breaks.  Many players had their first try of Winter Ball, and I think most will be back for more.  Thanks to everyone, it was a fun day.
    • I'll be placing an order to Crossfire in late Jan., so if you are interested in a 68 ci 3,000 Stubbie tank ($230 each), please let me know.  I have sold out of Stubbies, but will order more if players are interested.
    • There are a few 47 ci AL 3,000 psi tanks left selling for $140 each (taxes included).
