    • It looks like the National Professional Paintball League (NPPL.info) has split from Paintball Sports Promotions, Inc, (PSP) promoters of the National Professional Paintball League series of paintball events.
      • It get quite confusing, as PSP still owns & uses NPPL.com.  PSP were hired by the NPPL.info to produce the NPPL events for 2002 and a few years before.  There were some problems, that go back for years. Warpig.com has some excellent press releases that deal with both sides.
      • NPPL.info is the official players site run by the NPPL.  They believe that a Super 7-man World Series format would better suit players needs, and would tie more directly to the highly successful European Millennium Series 7-man league.  Events on both side of the Atlantic would score points for teams.  this schedule will be released in mid-Dec.  WDP has pledged support of the 7-man series.  Chuck Hendsch, VP, Sales and Marketing, West Coast for National Paintball Supply has officially resigned to pursue his position as President of the National Professional Paintball League (NPPL).
        • A Quote from Chuck Hendsch, "The NPPL Super 7’s is formatted to globalise the game and make it more presentable to Television, outside sponsors and most importantly, spectators. 7-man is a very strategic game, is easy to follow, fun to watch, and fits more easily into desirable venue's, allowing more impressive locations to be explored."
      • PSP/NPPL have posted their schedule for 2003.  There will be limited teams competing in X-ball, plus the regular 5 & 10 man events.  Outdoor Life Network -TV will be playing the PSP/NPPL World Cup 2002 event on a 1 hour program soon.
        • March 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9, 2003–CA: PSP Los Angeles
        • April 30 & May 1, 2, 3 & 4, 2003–NV: PSP Nevada
        • June 18, 19, 20, 21 & 22, 2003–IL: PSP Chicago
        • August 20, 21, 22, 23 & 24, 2003–NJ: PSP Atlantic City
        • Oct. 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 & 26, 2003–FL: PSP 14th annual World Cup
          • Sponsors include:
            • Dye
            • Diablo
            • Smart Parts
            • PMI
            • Shock Tech
            • Draxxus
            • National Paintball Supply
      • I hope this helps a little, but if you are unsure check out the press releases at Warpig.com , NPPL.info and NPPL.com. They really help, but there is much reading.  This is a very condensed version.
  • Dec. 7, 2002

      • So long as it is above -10oC

    • The latest HaloTSA is out now.  Unlike the Halo B, the new hopper is not force fed but agitated.  It is sound operated, to the trigger pull.  The Halo TSA has a mercury sensor, which detects the angle the hopper is being held and adjusts the direction of the paddle spin accordingly.  This ensures that the paintballs are always being brought towards the marker feed.  Rate of feed is 12-14 bps.
  • Nov. 13, 2002
    • News from Paintcheck.com
      • "There has been an unfortunate accident that took the life of a firefighter who was filling a paintball gun with compressed air.  The entire story is here: http://www.rep-am.com/top/4j4b.htm
      • Let's try to learn from this tragedy and be more careful with our air tanks.
      • Paintcheck.com would like to give its condolences and apologies to the family of the

      • victim.
      • The word is that the female connector of the disconnect exploded, and the ball bearings

      • struck the man in the neck."
  • Oct. 28, 2002
    • There were some unexpected surprises at the World Cup in FL.  The following is from Warpig.com
      • "Friday afternoon saw a controversial game that will no doubt be the subject of conversation for years to come.  Ground Zero Gold faced Avalanche in the preliminary rounds on the National Paintball Supply field, on the South edge of the tournament complex.  After a few GZ players were eliminated, they stood in the dead box trying to figure out who had shot them.  They

      • had been hit in the back.  GZ player Pete Utschig looked out in the woods and spotted some blond hair.  He bolted from the dead box, and reportedly chased down and apprehended Jeremy Salm of Avalanche dressed in black, with a black paintgun.
      • Statements had been made prior to the game that Salm was ill, so Avalanche team owner and retired player Ed Poorman was playing in his place on Friday.  The decisions that resulted from the game were that Avalanche forfeited their points for the game, was withdrawn from the tournament, and Salm would be suspended from NPPL/PSP tournaments for the 2003

      • season.
      • "We, Team Avalanche, would like to apologize to our sponsors and our fans for the actions of one individual, who is no longer on our team.  Although, as a team we take full responsibility, we would like everyone to understand that we were unaware of what had transpired until after the fact.  Also, we would like to state that the decision made by the rules committee was the

      • correct one."  "

    • The Industry conference was quite interesting.
    • We sure learned about concept fields, and running indoor facilities.
    • The key note speakers had shapes for every personality. Wayne was a triangle, make sure you ask him about it sometime.
    • Action Markers had a new pump, which worked much like a Sniper, but improved.
    • We saw a great idea for ported barrel cleaning. It was a pod with a swab sqeegie screwed into the bottom, surrounded by cotton batting. With just one swab, the ports were near perfectly cleaned. $25-30 USD
    • PMI has a disposable 4 oz CO2 cylinder, much like a big 12 gram. These could be refilled by a manufacturer. One 4 oz & adapter SRP $15 USD, two 4 oz refills $15 USD. This should be popular in remote areas, where CO2 refills are rare.
  • Aug. 5, 2002

    • The Night Game is rescheduled until Friday May 10, 2002 (delayed one week) .  It's too cold.  Sorry everybody!  Please tell anyone that you know that was coming, that it's been rescheduled.  Thanks.
  • May 1, 2002
    • It looks like it will be a bit cool for the Night Game.  Dress warm.  I suspect the Paintball mines may not work because it's too cold.  We have installed a charging rack, so most of the Glow Paintballs should be charged up.  The Glow paintballs are more expensive.  $50/ 500 paintballs.  Member price $40/500.  Regular paintballs will be sold too.
  • April 26, 2002
    • We tried the Glow Paintballs.  They look too cool, while being shot.  At high rates or fire, it is almost a line of light.  At low rates, it's hard to see where they are coming from, but you can trace your shot easily.
    • On April 29, 2002, it looks like National Paintball Supply, Inc. (National) will reach an agreement with Procaps, Inc. (Procaps) to purchase Diablo Direct International (Diablo).
      • As part of the agreement, National will be the exclusive distributor of Diablo paintballs and other leading paintball brands, including Team Colors, Competition, Nightmare and Fuel.
      • Procaps, a Canadian manufacturer of soft gelatin capsules, will continue to focus on manufacturing the highest quality paintballs in the industry.
      • Gino Postorivo ,owner of National Paintball Supply, is the largest paintball distributor in the world.
      • Richmond Italia (Diablo) has become the largest paintball manufacturer.

    • The Glow Paintballs have just arrived.  They look great.  There will be glowing paint for the Night Game on May 3, 2002.  You might want to pre book your paint, as I only have 10 cases.  Prices will be posted shortly.  Glow paintballs will be more expensive than regular paint.
  • April 15, 2002
    • Don't forget about the Night Game on Friday May 3, 2002.  It starts at 8 p.m.
      • I have 2 Master Mines (from Major Paintball) in, so each team will be able to have the use of one.  They work off a trip line, to a reusable mine.  It's powered by a standard 12 gram blast, which sprays "Venom" washable paint about 15-20'.  The blast covers about 600 square feet.
      • Each team will be able to set up their mine 5 minutes before each session begins.
    • IAO Moves 10-Player Teams to 7-player.
      • The Diablo International Amateur Open presented by Dick's Sporting Goods announces that the 10-player division has been replaced by a 7-player format.   According to Debra Dion Krischke, producer of the event, " We surveyed our 10-player teams from the past two years and 90% of them were in favor of the reduction. This year's event is all about change so it seemed a good time to make the transition."
      • This seems to be the way of the future. Europe has already made the transition.  7-player teams are much more spectator and media friendly without compromising the two flag format which many players enjoy. Teams should see a 30% savings in the overall cost of a team to travel, practice and attend events throughout the year.
      • The IAO will offer an amateur and novice division in 7-player format. In addition, 5-player competition will be available offering rookie, novice, and amateur divisions. Three player offers an Amateur, Young Guns and a new Women's division.

        • On Friday August 9th thru Sunday August 11th, Richmond Italia's new "X-Ball" format will be unveiled.  10 man rosters, with 5 players on the field at once.  Penalized players will go to a penalty box. 4 quarters will be played.  A hang is worth 1 point.  Every time a hang is scored the field is reset.  After a hang, each team has 3 minutes for their pit crews to reload paint, air, water, etc.

This is a bumper-to-bumper warranty. Starting in December, any returns will be replaced with the                2K-2002 model." ...From Action Pursuit Games Ezine.

    • New rule for all Electronic Markers at the Saskatchewan Paintball Championship Circuit events.
      • All Electronic markers must have a barrel "sock" over their barrel at all times in the safe area.  Examples are Redz Jimmy Caps, Barrel Condoms, etc.
      • This follows similar measures at most Paintball Tournaments.
      • This looks like a trend that will see barrel plugs replaced with barrel socks at all Tournaments.
