    •     If you are having trouble with your computer being slow from spyware or adware, Counter Spy is a terrific program ($20), and you can try it for free for 15 days.  It's active tracking does use a fair bit of memory, but I find that the results are worth it.  On my high speed connection, it has found 2 keyboard loggers, that no other program (in particular; "Adware Professional" and "Spybot Search and Destory" and "Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool").  Get Rid of Spyware with CounterSpy. Try it Free!  I suspect that you will buy it, after the 15 day free trial.  I did.  Now I don't worry so much about Spyware.
    • Here's a message from my Royal Bank regarding phishing.
      • To : PAINTBALL PARADISE
Subject : Important Reminder: Beware of Email Fraud ("Phishing")
        Date : 28 Nov 2006 11:26:00

Be cautious of fraudulent email (appearing to represent an RBC company) asking you to sign in and provide confidential financial details. We will never request personal information via an email.

One of the most common types of email fraud is the practice of sending phoney email messages (also known as "phishing"). The phoney emails usually look legitimate, include real company logos, and convey a sense of urgency (for example, you may be asked to validate your account information in order to prevent it from being suspended or terminated).

Please remain cautious and alert both during the pre-holiday season and throughout the year.

Under no circumstances will any RBC company or RBC employee send you an email requesting that you click on a link to sign in and verify your information.

You should NEVER respond to such an email or reveal your passwords or the answers to your personal verification questions (PVQs).

For more information on how you can avoid becoming a victim of email fraud, visit the following site:

        http://www.rbcroyalbank.com/online/guidetosecurity.html
      • I like a couple of sites to check out hoax's, urban legends, and general netlore.
        • http://urbanlegends.about.com/ This one is from about.com which is one of the oldest sites on the internet.
        • http://www.snopes.com/ This one is a great website too.
        • Both sites are quite entertaining if you have a few minutes to check out.
        • If any email has "please send to everyone that you know", it usually is a hoax.  Especially, if there is no website to confirm (always check the website to confirm, as many will use real websites that say the email is a hoax on the front page.  I remember a Toyota one in particular).  I can have my website updated in minutes, so if something is important a paid employee can have a website updated in seconds.

At 10:55 AM an announcement came over the store's PA asking customers who would still be on the premises at 11:00 AM to give two minutes of silence in respect to the veterans who have sacrificed so much for us..."  There was a father in the store which ignored the request for silence.  There are two versions of the video (minor changes).  Terry's website is www.terry-kelly.com

    • There was an Article in the P.A. Daily Herald on May 16, 2006.  It was titled "P.A. paintballers 1-2 at provincials" by Brad Brown.  It had a nice picture on the newly renovated Castle Field (formerly Speedball), with the Wildside's own Ryan Short .  The article started with "Paintball isn't the most popular of sports, but its competitors - especially those in Prince Albert - don't seem to care. Though the Saskatchewan Speedball Championship has sometimes attracted about..."  which is all I can reproduce without paying the Herald ~$70 for permission to reprint.  If you want, go through your back issues.  The article had some quotes from myself and Jim H., it mentions that the Predators and Wildside finished 1-2 at the Asquith Saskatchewan Speedball Championships.  It was nice to see on the back page, with the large picture of Ryan.

      • Paint problemIf you are renting my markers and using my paintballs, don't worry I have enough paint for you.  Please call me, to confirm availability of rentals 764-9444.  Otherwise, stop by and pick some paint up at Walmart or Canadian Tire, because my shipment didn't come in (or Chevy's).   I have enough for the renters.  If there is some left after the renters have theirs, then I will sell what's left over.
      • Remember to bring a complete change of clothes (if you fall, you will be wet) and boots would help also.  The Bin Field is super wet, so rubber boots would be the best footwear.  I spent several hours snow blowing (more like slush blowing) the Bin Field, so it not too bad, but it is very wet.

    • The International Amateur Open (IAO) Paintball event in Pittsburgh PA for 2006 will be going Retro.  I've attend this event numerous times for the Industry conference, and the Predators have played it once in 2002.  The first one that I attended was at the original site, which was very nice playing field for the day.  The last site was the Butler County Fair Grounds a good 30-40 minutes from Cranberry.   Here's their press release.
      • "The International Amateur Open has had an unparalleled 15 year run in the paintball world. It has morphed and evolved over the years to respond to an ever-changing market and industry.   By popular demand – The IAO will "Go Retro"  in 2006 and brought back to its roots at Three Rivers Paintball in Cranberry, PA.  This is where the very first amateur event was held back in 1991 and was the home for eleven years to a national gathering unlike any other. The newly designed and re-named “Three Rivers Paintball Festival” will be a combination of a 5-man rookie/novice event and Scenario game with our partners, BlackCat Productions.

        • It will be

        • 5 minutes from the support community of Cranberry

        • Produced by Three Rivers Paintball at the playing site

        • A fun- festival of paintball , food , and shopping

        • A tent trade show with a select number of trucks

        • July 27-30  - 5-man rookie/novice and scenario

        • AirBall Fields for tournament play – Woods fields for Scenario Play

        • The attention to detail that our events have become known for

        • This event will be fun-filled, relaxed version for all paintball aficionados that will be easy and affordable to attend for both teams, scenario players and vendors. Stay tuned to our website at www.TRPaintball.com for details. "

    • The website has gone through a major overhaul.  Hopefully, you think this is an improvement.  Some of the articles are now much easier to find and read.  Especially under the Predators link, Shatnerball 2004, Las Vegas 2000 and Pittsburgh 1998.  One of these days, I'll get the pics scanned from Pittsburgh 2002.
  • Jan. 18, 2006
    • With all the Pump days and players, I found some good articles on the Phantom Pump Marker from CCI.  I found a Phantom Review on stockclasspaintball.com, and just a note; Mike Cassidy is truly a great person to deal with.  I also ran across an old article from APG, by Jessica Sparks called, "Inside the Phantom".  Both articles are very good, and really you get to know the Phantom, and why it's such a popular pump marker.
